books

The blogs been quiet for a few days.  Those days have been full— a nasty head cold, some product shots for TisBest, some photos of the Mars Hill Graduate School Experience weekend, and some homework sprinkled in here and there.  I’m starting to feel the weight of what lies in the three weeks between me and the end of the term.  Yikes.

Inconviently, I find myself in possession of thirteen photography books from library.  It’s funny, I think, considering the work load ahead.  It’s not actually that inconvient; it’s kind of nice— most of them are coffee table/gallery books which provide great opportunities for study breaks and general disassociation.  The few instructional books I have do not hold my interest currently.  I guess it’s just not the time, and I’m thankful for that.

I’m particularly enjoying Andrew Zuckerman’s Bird and Creature books, as well as Jill Greenburg’s Monkey and Bear books.  They all have a similar format: neatral background + interesting subject matter + heavily produced lighting.  The emphasis they share is on bringing out the three dimensionality of the subject matter.

Anyway.  Here’s my stack of library books.  My stack stack of papers feels much larger at this point.
